5T Single Beam Cranes

This company Rhames moved from Chesterfield to Nottingham and we supplied 2 x 5T single beam cranes fitted with Demag running equipment, they were 15mtr span with 6mtrs available height of lift. All motions were 2 speed, these cranes were installed onto a 24mtr steel gantry system along with a new conductor system also supplied and fitted by Cobal Cranes Ltd.

What can it be used for?

A 5-ton single beam overhead crane (also known as a 5T single girder EOT crane) is primarily used for medium-duty material handling applications. Its compact design, lighter weight, and lower cost compared to double girder cranes make it a popular choice for facilities with moderate load requirements or limited headroom.

The main purpose of this crane is to lift, hold, and transport loads up to 5,000 kg ($5 \text{ metric tons}$) horizontally across a defined span within a workspace, warehouse, or factory.

Common Applications and Industries

5T single beam cranes are versatile and found across various sectors:

  • Manufacturing and Workshops
    • Moving machinery components, motors, and heavy sub-assemblies along an assembly line.
    • Lifting and positioning materials for machining, welding, or fabrication.
    • Handling molds and tools in tooling and molding shops.
  • Warehousing and Logistics
    • Efficiently loading, unloading, and stacking goods within storage areas, especially in facilities with lower ceilings.
    • Transferring materials between different workstations or storage bays.
  • Automotive Industry
    • Lifting and moving vehicle components like engines, chassis, and body panels during assembly and maintenance.
  • Steel and Metal Industry
    • Handling fabricated metal parts, sheets, and other equipment in the early stages of processing or fabrication.
  • Construction and Maintenance
    • Transporting steel beams, precast concrete blocks, or heavy tools within a construction yard or maintenance shop.
    • Lifting equipment for repair and maintenance tasks.

Key Characteristics

The single-girder design offers several advantages suited for these applications:

Characteristic Detail
Capacity $5 \text{ tons } (5000 \text{ kg})$, making it ideal for medium loads.
Design Compact and lightweight, resulting in lower building structure loads and requiring less headroom.
Cost Generally the most economical option for light-to-medium duty applications, both for initial purchase and maintenance.
Installation Easier and less time-consuming to install than double-girder models.
